Busy February...

Where have I been huh? Things got a little crazy and well, when time becomes limited it becomes hard for me to post on here. That's no big surprise. But I do have a lot of news to impart and a lot of things to share. I'll do a series of them over the next few days/weeks.

What's most important right now, and if you did not know already, Rob's mother was in the hospital this last week. And here is a great example of seeing your doctor once you feel something (anything) is off. She wasn't feeling hot. So she went in for a check up, had a stress test which reavealed there was some blockages. They had her come in for a Echocardiogram last monday. That revealed what most people fear - fairly severe blockages in 2 of her arteries. She was automatically scheduled for surgery.

Heart surgery is the most common surgery in the united states. Although, as all surgeries do, it presents itself with risks but overall it's an established surgery. We were confident she would come out of it with flying colors. And she did. Her surgery was last Thursday. When all was said in done she had a triple bypass (wow) and they also cleaned out the cartoid artery. That's the artery in your neck that goes to the brain. She had it 90% blocked which would have had her a viable candidate for stroke (EEK.)

Surgery was successful on Thursday. She was in the ICU until Sunday Morning and she's coming home today. We are all grateful that they found this early enough to prevent something horrible from happening. But it's important to all to check yourself out every now and again!

So more to discuss, but that will come in other posts.

What a relief! Modern medicine is really wonderful -- I say that even despite having lost my mom after a lengthy hospital stay and my dad being on his way out as well. Who knows where any of us would be without good medical attention? My best wishes for a speedy recovery for your MIL.

Dianne - I know the feeling is dreadful and I am glad you guys got thru it. My mother in law had her valve replaced the month after Thomasino was born and they only gave her a 50% chance of survival because of other health issues. But thank goodness she made it thru but is still not herself.

Stay strong and keep her spirits up.
